The Museum of Modern Art presents Nilima Sheikh: Fractured Skies, the first solo presentation in New York devoted to Indian artist Nilima Sheikh. Organized in collaboration with the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art in New Delhi, the exhibition brings together works from the past two decades exploring memory, displacement, history, and the contested landscape of Kashmir, alongside a new site-responsive series of paintings making its debut at MoMA.

Household Gods: Hindu Devotional Prints, 1860–1930 explores how chromolithography transformed Hindu devotional imagery in India, making colorful images of deities affordable for household shrines. Featuring approximately 120 works from The Met’s collection—including prints from pioneering presses in Kolkata, Pune, and Mumbai, as well as paintings and portable shrines—the exhibition traces how these widely circulated images helped express religious and Indian identity during the early years of the Independence movement.
Sajal Sarkar: Birth of Another God

Indian-born artist Sajal Sarkar presents Birth of Another God, a new series of atmospheric paintings examining the fragility of civilization and humanity’s search for order amid chaos. Combining realism and abstraction, Sarkar creates desolate landscapes populated by mysterious structures, urban debris, skeletal remains, and fragmented forms that evoke instability, destruction, and the precariousness of human existence.
Dhara Mehrotra: Skies Beneath The Feet

Indian artist Dhara Mehrotra presents Skies Beneath The Feet, her second solo exhibition at Aicon Contemporary. Through new paintings and works on paper, Mehrotra explores the complex ecosystems hidden beneath the earth—from roots and fungal networks to minerals and microbes—using abstraction to connect microscopic natural systems with the vastness of the cosmos.
Silk & Stone

Presented as part of New York Textile Month, Silk & Stone brings together the contrasting material practices of textile artist Sadhana of Sooi Silk Works. Her hyperrealistic portraits are meticulously hand-stitched from thousands of strands of silk thread, while large-scale works combine concrete, cement, rope, stone, and gold leaf. The exhibition explores contrasts between softness and weight, luminosity and raw texture, and the patient traditions of handmade craft and contemporary art.
