I’ve known Ryan Serhant from “A-List New York,” so I was immediately interested in watching his new Netflix show, “Owning Manhattan.” Now the owner of Serhant Real Estate, it’s fascinating to see him in the role of a boss, leading a team of new agents as they navigate the competitive world of New York City real estate.
The reality show is set up really well, with a $250 million penthouse listing at Central Park Tower as the highlight of episode one. The penthouse spans three levels, from the 129th to the 131st floors, and boasts 1,625 square meters of interior living space. It includes 23 rooms, seven bedrooms, and 9.5 bathrooms. There’s also a 133 square meter outdoor terrace that offers stunning views of New York City, including Central Park, the Midtown and Downtown skylines, and the various waterways across Manhattan.
With such a hefty price tag, one can’t help but marvel at the sheer amount of wealth in the world. It might seem impossible to sell, but it’s worth noting that the most expensive home in the country was previously sold in New York for $238 million.
When Kayla, a seemingly sure-bet agent, failed to secure a client in South Korea, Ryan extended the listing opportunity to the top five agents in his company. He announced that whoever sells the listing will earn a $10 million commission. Honestly, I prefer this format. If Ryan had treated this more like a competition show, with three agents from his company competing to sell a listing per episode, it would have been even more thrilling. While I find most of the agents on the show intriguing, I have to admit that Chloe, Jonathan, and Savannah can be a bit annoying. Nevertheless, the show has a lot to offer, and yes, I still watched it, and you should too!
