44th India Day Parade – New York
Celebrate India’s rich cultural heritage at the 44th India Day Parade, the largest India Day Parade outside of India. Organized by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), this annual event commemorates India’s Independence Day and draws tens of thousands of spectators from across the Tri-State area and beyond. The parade transforms the streets of Manhattan into a vibrant showcase of Indian culture, featuring colorful floats, traditional music, dance performances, community organizations, and marching groups representing the country’s many states and regions.
The festivities highlight India’s remarkable diversity through classical and folk dance, Bollywood performances, regional costumes, and cultural displays. Visitors can also enjoy food vendors, artisan booths, and family-friendly activities celebrating Indian traditions, cuisine, and community.
Each year, the parade welcomes distinguished guests from India and the United States, including government officials, business leaders, artists, athletes, and entertainers. Founded in 1981, the New York India Day Parade has grown into one of the world’s largest celebrations of Indian Independence Day outside India. Organized by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA-NY-NJ-CT-NE), the event celebrates India’s independence on August 15, 1947, while promoting cultural exchange and strengthening ties between the Indian-American community and New York City.
