Internationally acclaimed musician, producer, activist, and former drummer Madame Gandhi brings her powerful blend of electronic music, percussion, and socially conscious performance to Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City. Known for transforming dance floors into spaces for empowerment and collective celebration, her performances combine infectious rhythms with messages of gender equality, community, and positive social change.
Blending influences from South Asian music, electronic pop, global percussion traditions, and wellness practices, Madame Gandhi has built a worldwide following through performances at major festivals and cultural institutions. About Madame Gandhi:
Born Kiran Gandhi, Madame Gandhi first gained attention as a drummer for artists including M.I.A. and Thievery Corporation before launching her solo career. She became an international voice for gender equity after running the 2015 London Marathon while openly challenging stigma around menstruation. Since then, she has combined music, activism, education, and public speaking into a career focused on empowerment and inclusion.
Her acclaimed projects include the albums Vibrations and Let Me Be Water, both of which explore themes of healing, resilience, self-expression, and community-building through music.
